Since 1939, the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science has been teaching students to become technical leaders with the skills that make them significant contributors to society. We believe the best engineers are not trained — they are educated. McCormick is dedicated to a high standard of excellence in teaching the fundamentals of science and engineering, and preparing students for professional engineering careers. You'll begin exploring engineering as a freshman through our unique Engineering First curriculum, but a third of your course work is devoted to broadening your experience beyond traditional engineering classes. Seventy percent of our students seize this opportunity to take a foreign language, pursue a minor concentration, or conduct independent research. Students with more broadly based interests can work toward two degrees in engineering or pursue a combined degree program. McCormick has an ethnically diverse population, being first in the nation for graduation rate of minority engineering students. Design-related extra-curricular activities allow students to explore their organizational skills and creativity.
