Pre-college programs at Northwestern

Want a glimpse of Northwestern before you graduate from high school? Take advantage of Northwestern's pre-college programs. From journalism to music to theatre to pre-med programs, there's a wide variety of topics to study, right on Northwestern's beautiful lakeshore campus.

Center for Talent Development

The Center for Talent Development offers programs for gifted students in grades 4 through 12. The programs run for three weeks during two separate sessions in the summer. Partial financial assistance is available based on need.

College Bridge

The College Bridge program allows Chicago Public School (CPS) students to enroll in undergraduate courses during the academic year and summer. Thanks to a partnership between the CPS and Northwestern University, the program is fully funded at no cost to students.

College Preparation

Students interested in getting a jump start on their college education may take courses through Northwestern's College Preparation program during the summer between their junior and senior years. The courses offered will require students to write, think, and communicate at the college level while allowing the students to live on campus. Partial financial assistance is available.

LEAD (Leadership Education and Development Program in Business)

The three-week LEAD program teaches minority students business basics by combining classroom instruction with tours of Chicago businesses. The program is free.

NHSI (National High School Institute)

The National High School Institute provides rigorous residential enrichment programs in eight academic areas, ranging from journalism to theatre. Students can select one area in which to participate. Financial assistance is available for all areas of study.
