Northwestern recognizes credit for courses completed elsewhere if the courses

  • are similar to courses offered at Northwestern,
  • were taken at an accredited college or university,
  • have not been submitted for partial fulfillment of secondary school graduation requirements, and
  • were taken on a college campus in the United States or Canada with a majority of college students in attendance.

Under similar circumstances, Northwestern may also award credit for courses successfully completed at a college or university outside the United States or Canada.

If you have taken college courses that do not qualify for credit under these conditions, you should take AP examinations in the appropriate subjects.
