Study abroad

Each year, approximately 500 Northwestern undergraduates study abroad for a term, a full year, or a summer. The University is affiliated with over 100 programs in almost 50 countries all over the world: in Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. Students in any major can study abroad; it is not restricted to students who know a foreign language as there are many programs in English-speaking countries. Programs in non-English speaking countries often require that students have two years of language study at the college level. In short, study abroad can be a very rewarding experience for all types of students, whether their goal is to master Japanese, study engineering in England, perform music in Vienna, or carry out field studies in Africa.
