Named for Walter Dill Scott (Northwestern's president from 1920 to 1939), Scott Hall was completed in 1940. It served as the student union until Norris University Center was built; many alumni will remember the old grill as a popular gathering place. Today it houses the political science department as well as offices for housing, residential life, counseling, and other student services. Cahn Auditorium shares the building; the auditorium is the largest performance place on campus, with more than 1,000 seats and an orchestra pit. The annual Waa-Mu Show, one of the country's most famous college productions, is staged here.
