Audition requirements

Performance auditions are required of all applicants to the School of Music. Auditions should consist of a varied program of four contrasting movements from different compositions. You can learn more about audition requirements at http://www.music.northwestern.edu/admission/undergraduate/underadmission.html.

Students applying in composition, music education, music academic studies, music cognition, musicology, technology, theory, and all those applying to the Bachelor of Arts in Music have an audition portfolio or essay requirement in addition to a performance audition.

In addition to auditions at Northwestern, we hold regional auditions during January and February in 11 cities throughout the United States. For more information or to schedule an audition, please contact the Music Admission Office.
