Introduction
450 full-time faculty
4,000 full-time undergraduate students
The Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, the oldest of Northwestern's schools, enrolls more than half of the undergraduate students on campus. The College's goal is to help students become colleagues with their teachers in learning about the world. It boasts an incredible selection of courses about the arts, natural sciences and social sciences, cultures, languages, and politics. Weinberg graduates report that they grew the most in terms of thinking analytically and logically, acquiring knowledge and skills on their own, gaining self awareness, working independently, learning in-depth knowledge of a field, and writing effectively.
Beginning with classes that ground you in the major disciplines and instill broad analytic skills, you will grow as a scholar by working closely with a faculty member doing original research or pursuing an independent project, or by tailoring an internship that takes you into the community. This mix of curricular choices (almost 50 major concentrations), in-depth study, and independent initiative has been a winning combination for Northwestern students. As professions continue to change, our graduates find they are able to adapt to — and take advantage of — unexpected opportunities after leaving Northwestern.
