The Medill School of Journalism has approximately 650 full-time undergraduate students, 25 percent of whom are minorities.

In a survey of a recent Medill graduating class,

  • 23% took jobs in magazine journalism
  • 22% went into newspaper
  • 15% went to work in broadcast
  • 5% went on to graduate or law school
  • 7% took jobs in online journalism
  • 16% found work in areas such advertising, marketing, public relations, wire services
  • 12% chose non-media professions

Medill graduates' average starting salary was roughly $5,000 above average for graduates of other journalism schools.
